City’s water system to determine the future demands. Demographic
projections were developed from historical data; hydraulic modeling
of the City’s water system and subsequent design of water line
projects to meet future water consumption demands.

Design and preparation of drawings and specifications for
construction of approximately 1400 linear feet of 8” ductile iron
sewer pipe and 1100 linear feet of 8” PVC sewer pipe, complete with
appurtenances.

Project: Department of Transportation Building
|
We have worked with the City of Roswell Transportation Department
for over 15 years. What was then the Public Works Department was
evaluated to determine any special needs and space requirements in
each division of the Department. We provided detailed design of the
building, evaluating and reviewing with various divisions of the
Department, assisting in obtaining bids and provided construction
administration.
We are presently working with The Austin Company on the new Roswell
Transportation and Public Works Facility.

Client: Theragenics Corporation
Project: Manufacturing Facility

Theragenics Corporation is a manufacturer of a nuclear isotope used
for medical purposes in the treatment of cancer. Our work involved
assisting with the planning and design of the facility layout to
meet the Client’s manufacturing and production needs and to allow
for a “modular” facility design that could be readily expanded as
product demand increased. When completed, this facility will be the
largest privately owned nuclear isotope manufacturing facility in
the world.

Manufacturing Facility and Facility Expansion |
Heraeus Tenevo, Inc. is a manufacturer of quartz glass and quartz
glass products. Principally these products are used for fiber optic
cable, computer chips and technical glass components. Our
involvement with both the manufacturing facility design and design
of the facility expansion required us to interpret requirements
based upon German design to accommodate the manufacturing process
equipment. We converted German manufacturing requirements to
American construction standards; and designed the building,
equipment supports and accessories. Our firm provided design of the
civil and structural portions of the project in addition to
coordinating between all disciplines the contract documents, and
reproduction of all documents.

Our work with AT&T Wireless Services involved site and structural
engineering concerning the construction of wireless cell phone
sites. In the course of these assignments we are assisting in site
evaluation and selection, site engineering, and obtaining
development permits from various municipalities.

Project: Truck Leasing Centers

We worked with Rollins Leasing Corporation to assist in selecting
and designing truck leasing centers. Our work involved all aspects
of site design including environmental concerns, wetlands issues,
storm water management, and all details related to site design.
During the course of construction we monitored progress at the site
to insure that work was in compliance with contract requirements.

with floors, walls, and roof framed with dimensional lumber.
Note full exterior sheathing and interior steel columns for

“Intense” construction on a congested site with poor
soil. A mid-course
change required use of a “floating mat” foundation to support
the added terrace level Green Room and Concessions Plaza above.

Facility

SSI provided site and structural engineering
services for this 600,000 SF facility, constructed on 45 acres in
Walton County, Georgia. The
building is of tilt-up wall panel construction, with a lightweight
steel joist roof system. Steel
fiber reinforced floor slabs were used.

Vassey Dental Office Building, Peachtree City, Georgia
|
This 9,000 SF, two-story building
incorporated the “Epicore” floor system and “thermasteel”
wall panel system. The floor system used allowed an open plenum space below.
The wall system consisted of composite light-gage/Styrofoam
fabricated panels, field-assembled.
Foundations are of reinforced concrete, and principal framing
members are of structural steel with manufactured wood roof trusses.
